Welcome to Class 2
I hope you have had a lovely time over the summer and I am sure you are now ready to start the new school year, so welcome to Year 2!
Who are we?
My name is Mrs Artley and I am the year two teacher, Mrs Kitchen and Miss Rolph are the teaching assistants and will be working with individuals and groups of children throughout the year. We also have Miss Brodigan working with us as she completes her teacher training.
Homework is set every Friday and is due in the following Wednesday. Your child will be sent home with a list of spellings relating to what we have been learning in phonics. Please encourage your child to practice them at home. The other piece of homework will have either a literacy or numeracy focus.
The children will be doing PE on a Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school and that all items are clearly labelled. For health and safety reasons your child should not wear jewellery on these days, especially earrings. They must have appropriate footwear too, either trainers or pumps.
In class 2 we love to read! Reading with your child as often as possible is very beneficial, around 5- 10 minutes every day. It is helpful if you could record the pages you have read with your child in their reading record book. Your child will will have their book changed twice a week. On a Friday I will be starting a class library where your child can borrow a book from the Reading Corner to take home and share with their family. This is to promote the love of reading. The book must be returned the following week in order to receive a new one. If your child has read frequently over the term they will receive a reading reward!
Rewards in class 2!
We have lots of rewards in class 2 to praise fantastic behaviour! Children can earn chance cards, stickers and have the opportunity to work together as a class to fill the marble jar! A full marble jar can only mean one thing- PRIZES!
If you have any questions about this year, then please do not hesitate to ask myself or Mrs Kitchen we are more than happy to help on any matter big or small!
We have had lots of fun making Dragon medicines this week in order to save the Dragon that we assisted the Department of Dragons catch last week with our amazing instructions. Unfortunately the Dragon’s wing was injured and the Department of Dragons have asked us to make some medicines to save it. Stay tuned for pictures of us making the medicines and the super instructions we will be writing.
